Effective July 1, 2021, the Republic rate structure has changed. You will be able to get weekly garbage service only for $32.00 for 3 months. If you want to continue having your recycling picked up every two weeks, that price will be an additional $36.00 for 3 months. We were told the charge for NON-members of the Crooked Lake Association is roughly $85 per quarter. Remember you have to be a 2021 Member of the Crooked Lake Association to get these special lower rates. One option, for example, is to have your garbage only picked up, and take your recycling to the service center near the 4H Park. Your cost would drop to $32 for three months.

Steuben County Lakes Council

The council meetings are held the first Saturday of each month (excluding January) at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Angola, at 8:30 a.m.

With the many environmental issues around our lake and all lakes in general we have the Steuben County Lakes Council keeping an eye out for our quality of life on the lake. Please read the attached letter from Jim Aikman and Pete Hippensteel's Position Paper on the Proposed CAFO.

Fishing

To fish in public lakes, streams, rivers or tributaries in the state of Indiana or its boundary waters, you must have a valid fishing license. License holders must carry their license while fishing and present it to a conservation officer (or any authorized law enforcement official) upon request. There are fines and penalties for fishing without a license. You can apply online and print a license here [Indiana Outdoor Online Licensing Website]. Crooked Lake has one public boat launch and one private boat launch. The private boat launch is at Casey’s Cove Marina. The public launch is inside Steuben County Park off County Road 200 West on east side of first basin.
